I’m almost 30 now, and I wanna keep my 20s look. thanks.
Well, it’s hard to say without knowing what you look like or your body type, but there are a few general tips I can give you -
Skincare
– Take good care of your skin. I know it’s a basic tip, but it’s actually the best tip. Cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise.
– Use products that are "anti-ageing". I know companies say they are for over 40’s, but I’ve modelled since I was 15 and have used anti ageing products since then on advice of a top make-up artist (I’m 20 now), because they actually do wonders for your skin. They are usually rich in moisture and antioxidents, as well as they have exfoliating ingredients to slough away dry skin. Anti ageing is the best on skin of any age.
– Use EYE CREAM. I can’t stress this enough, eyes age fastest.
– Use sunscreen everyday (sun if the biggest ageing factor, and even 5 minutes sun exposure per day over a year equates to 3 days in a tanning bed, which you wouldn’t do).
MAKE-UP
– Use make-up to acheive the ‘big eye" look (it’s very youthful). Firstly line the inside rims of your eyes with white eyeliner. Then dot shimmery white shadow on the inside corner of your eyes, and under the browbone. Draw a thin line of eyeliner (if you use it) on only the top lashes and do not smudge. Use whatever eyeshadow colour you like and finish with a curling mascara.
– Use foundations with "light-reflective" in the description, or mix an illuminator with your regular foundation. DO NOT USE POWDER, it is ageing. Use a light-reflective concealor under your eyes. The foundation and concealors i use are Clarins foundation and Lancome concealer, though I hear Revlon make some decent light-reflecting products too.
– Use a cream blush, powders are ageing.
– Back away from heavy lip colours, nice glossy nudes/pinks/peaches are more youthful in appearance.
HAIR
– Don’t straighten! Straightening flattens the face and ages everyone. Basically straightening gives everyone the SJP horse-face look (I don’t why everyone insists on straightening their hair, it makes everyone look ugly).
– Instead, some bouncy waves or curls look more youthful. If you’ve got naturally wavy/curly hair, just put a taming products through and blow-dry, or if your hair is straight, you can use rollers, hot tongs, or a blow-dryer and a round brush to create wave. Finish with a bit of gloss spray to make your hair look shiney and healthy.
– Don’t dye your hair to much. Keep it within 3 shades of your natural colour, and don’t ever put yucky, chunky highlights in your hair, as this is very tacky looking. Keep it natural and glossy and you will appear younger (think about it, the prettier younger girls are often the most natural -so stick to that rule).
CLOTHING
- Don’t try to be a trend follower to closely, this just makes you look like mutton dressed as lamb and is too obvious. Rather than doing head to toe trends, pick a statement piece, and pair it back with neutral pieces, and then throw on a few trendy accesories (but not to many, just a few -like bag and bangles, or shoes and headscarf). Like for day wear, basic jeans, some cute flat shoes, singlet top, paired with youthful make-up and hair, and then I’d put trendy jacket over top with a huge stack of trendy bangles and a statement ring. There, easy, trendy without being OTT.
– Dress for your body shape. It is ageing and tacky to wear things that are innappropriate for you shape.
– Learn your colours. Good colours for your skin will make you look healthy (thus younger), but colours will drown your complexion and make you look older.
